Scope
We worked with Work.Life to bring their newest coworking hub, Clerkenwell Green, to life right in the heart of Clerkenwell’s historic design district. The furniture had to reflect the area’s history, add personality to every floor, and still feel unmistakably Work.Life. Partnering with Two, we pulled together an eclectic mix of furniture, from bold classics to softer, textural pieces, to create a building that feels alive with variety.
Project in Brief
- Eight floors of coworking, meeting and lounge spaces
- Furniture specification mixing playful colour with grounded tones
- A design story rooted in Clerkenwell’s history of craft and making
Coffee, Colour and First Impressions
Clerkenwell has always been about craft, and the welcome café brings that spirit into the visitor’s first impression with the space and into our furniture choices. We introduced a mix of tones and textures that reflect the area’s design heritage. Johanson Vinga chairs in dark green, mid blue, and pale rose give variety without feeling mismatched. The Normann Copenhagen Bit Stool in white terrazzo adds a striking material contrast, and the Allermuir Sunda 2 coffee table in oak veneer grounds the welcome bar with warmth, making it feel open and lively, while tying it into Work.Life’s playful identity.
In the hot-desking area, Vitra Tip Ton chairs in glacier blue sit next to the Vitra Panton chair in classic red, with ORN Loria chairs in ice blue and pale rose adding softer tones with Johanson Haddoc armchairs in ruby red.
Mixing Metals, Textiles and Time
Boardrooms were anchored with Rawside Workaround tables in oak paired with ORN Loria tub chairs in Kvadrat Atlas midnight navy upholstery. Meeting rooms carried their own identities, with ORN Loria C.P chairs upholstered in warm brown, soft beige and charcoal tones, paired with Rawside Workaround tables in cloud grey. On the upper floors breakout area, ORN Iconic two-seater sofas in deep clay sit alongside Johanson Frankie lounge chairs in pink with wine red frames, and ORN Vyo Single chairs in red copper.
Normann Copenhagen Burra lounge chairs in a pale pink Camira Oceanic, a fabric created using post-consumer plastic collected from the sea through the SEAQUAL Initiative, while existing sanitaryware was reused elsewhere to cut waste. The mix of contemporary classics, playful statement pieces and practical reuse gave Clerkenwell Green a furniture story that feels as eclectic as the neighbourhood itself.
