When pharmaceutical leader Shionogi relocated to Fifty Paddington, the vision was clear: a workspace that bridged Japanese elegance with Scandinavian restraint. While Modus brought this narrative to life through spatial design and delivery, our role was to curate a furniture package that responded to the brief and anchored the cultural references, comfort and versatility that define this environment. Every piece was specified with purpose, whether to echo the architectural lines of an Engawa walkway or support a flexible town hall.

Design That Moves with You

The reception area features modular seating by Pedrali Arki 3 seater and armchairs by Hay Chisel Chair, setting the tone with calm materials and soft forms. This tone continues into the boardroom, where the upholstered Icons of Denmark Arena chairs in Kvadrat Rewool pair with bespoke blue Fenix boardroom tables from Workstories Co. Stories and Workstories Flip Top inserts.

Meeting rooms offer a mix of reuse and new pieces, including Rawside Workaround tables and a sculptural Vitra Noguchi Coffee Table, reinforcing the client’s commitment to sustainability and style. Informal collaboration zones use modular storage by Workstories Urban Connect and high tables such as the Workstories Hub Poseur, accompanied by Hay AAS High stools, inviting fluid transitions from solo work to group discussion.

Comfort, Quiet, and Culture in Every Detail

Quiet areas are supported by Narbutas Motion height-adjustable desks and Narbutas Nova U fixed desks, fitted with coloured Camira Era fabric screens in brand-inspired tones. In the wellness and town hall zones, comfort was key, modular seating by OB&B Seam Special and lounge pieces by Workstories Lola 3 seater, Workstories Circa Chair, and Workstories Hello enable relaxed interaction, while Workstories Loop Laptop Table ensures agile functionality.

For acoustic privacy, booths by Senator Hideaway are introduced, fitted with worktables from Workstories Rail Single and Workstories Cici chairs in energising shades. Dining and café areas combine durable functionality with elegant design through Muuto Cover Chair, Ton Merano chairs, and oak-framed Rawside Frank dining tables.

Outdoor zones extend the workspace with all-weather solutions by Frovi Osti and Allermuir Crop chairs and Allermuir Axyl tables, bringing the project’s Engawa-inspired flow to life beyond the interior walls.
